Ive put together Chip Shop Pop, perfect early 70s radio-friendly pop: Cook/Greenaway, T Macaulay, John Carter, Lynsey de Paul…all the Denmark Street cats. Sound like top 10 hits but none of them were - heard maybe once at the time, then lost…until now!

What was testcard music? Why was it there? Who played it? Why couldn't you buy it? I don't know! Well, I DO know a little bit about it, and so I wrote a column on it for today's Record Room post. https://t.co/m0QyQwUsTz

"He looked like a Detroit mechanic from the Italian side of town; an acoustic guitar seemed particularly fragile in his arms. Under his quiff, his eyebrows would rise up and part like Tower Bridge when he sang." A long read on Jack Scott https://t.co/m0QyQwUsTz

Every day is Record Store Day for me. My favourite record shop is @ProbeRecords. The first record I bought from there was back in 1990. It was a 60’s Garage compilation - Pebbles 3 - The Acid Gallery.

If you’re trying to buy The Night on LP or CD, the re-press was ordered on the 4th Jan and PIAS say it should be arriving before the end of the month. There has been a change of staff at PIAS but it should all be sorted soon. Apologies for the delay.

This week's Record Room salutes James Hamilton, DJ hero, inventor of BPM. His Record Mirror columns featured some of my fav capsule reviews - eg Cult Of Snap: "corny but catchy Afro chanted jiggly throbbing chugger has twiddly Middle East sax effects" https://t.co/m0QyQwV0J7
