We thank the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) (@DiscoverJKUAT ), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) (@jica_direct_en ) via the AFRICA-ai-JAPAN Project, the Nagasaki University (@NagasakiUniv_PT ), and Afribot Robotics (@AfribotRobotics ).

And of course, the robots had to perform all these tasks #autonomously and within 5 minutes!! 😮This was quite the challenge, and we were surprised by the teams' dedication and brilliant solutions to this year's challenge.

4️⃣ - Path Planning: Some paths in the gamefield contained #automated gates that were closed/opened at random by the judges. #Robots had to re-plan their path to get to their goals.

3️⃣ - Load & unload harvest: The #robots were required to have an automated 'bin' or 'carrier' that could hold a cube representing a bag of potatoes and unload it to the respective depositing station, depending on the color of the cube.

2️⃣ - Off-road cruise: Since farms are characterized by uneven and rough terrain, we included different sections containing grass, sawdust, and gravel. The #robots had to be uniquely designed to traverse these terrain sections.

The participating teams were challenged to build #robots that could perform the following 4 tasks: 1️⃣ - Plant Disease Detection: Use #computervision and #machinelearning to detect and classify different types of potato diseases ,such as early and late blight.
