I used to pass this when driving to Naughty Dog. It was built in 1927 and is a gorgeous example of 20’s Civil Engineering and Architecture. I find it useful is to indict early on •Bigger shapes •Darkest and lightest accents •Texture •Smaller detail somewhere

We've just learned of the death of Roger Kastel, who designed the iconic posters for The Empire Strikes Back and Jaws. The Jaws poster was originally the cover of Peter Benchley's book, but Universal bought the rights to make it the poster for Spielberg's film. He was 91.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is out! here's a few vis dev pieces i did years ago. i loved the texture in her hair so i thought that was the element to key off in exploring the BG style. another version was all about flatness in the BG to contrast her line work.

a new Graphic LA. the civil engineering projects around Los Angeles (water pumping station, etc) reflect a subtle deco proportion system from the time they were built. nice to see utilitarian projects imbued with a sense of art and design.
