Just published: Manchester is home to the UK's first quantum speed limit, a 30mph restriction on the Mancunian Way that appears to be a legal impossibility.

In 2022, Manchester City Council say they reduced the speed limit on the Mancunian Way to 30mph. But it’s not clear if they did. It’s not even clear if they can.

We've been marking 100 years of road numbers for the last year. Our final post asks... what happens when numbers go wrong? And does it really matter?

Road numbering is a system with clear rules. What happens when the people responsible for numbering roads don't follow them?

At Wisley Interchange, National Highways are building a huge new roundabout. Is a roundabout the right solution for £317m? Time to take a closer look. We need to talk about Wisley!

National Highways are spending a third of a billion pounds rebuilding one of the most congested junctions on the M25. Is it money well spent?

There’s so much politically-led nonsense surrounding the ULEZ and schemes like it that it’s getting difficult to see the wood for the trees. This is some great analysis of a ridiculous newspaper article 👇🏻

This weekend, Britain may be about to have its worst traffic jam ever. Up to five hours of delay for 100,000 drivers or more. Would you believe me if I told you the reason is because Britain's most hated motorway is too good? Or that someone had a semi-secret plan to fix that🧵
