I objected to Meta using my posts and photos for generative AI. I didn't post anything on Facebook for this purpose. If I want AI using my personal data then I want some control over what it gets to see.

Enabling this requires new technological solutions which should be based around open standards, so I can truly own my own data. This is where I think the Solid Project becomes really important

Some of it I may have to pay to access, some of it I may only be given access to because of who I am or what I do, but I will be able to access all of this from within my personal internet.

But it will link out to the web of documents that we all share. The common knowledge, if you like, some of which will also be editable, to a greater or lesser degree, by me (think Wikidata, Wikipedia).

I think the future of the internet is based around the individual. It will be local first - a personal internet based on a Personal Knowledge Graph of the stuff that is important to me.

It's past time we got back to what the internet is really good at - i.e. creating links (hyperlinks) between interesting and related content.

What is needed are guidelines on how to create a PKG using open standards, and tools that make creating PKGs an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

A Personal Knowledge Graph is, by it's nature, personal. We need to be careful that the PKG space is not taken over by Big Tech.
