Why does anyone take @LHSummers seriously? He keeps getting the numbers wrong. (Maybe because corporate elites like the message to cut wages?).

For the third time (1929, 2008, and now) we are learning that low interest rates and rampant market speculation create crashes.

Student debt cancellation could make Biden a hero. Why is he going small when he could go big?

Adminstration infighting continues over pitch to cut strategic tariffs on Chinese goods as inflation-fighting measure. The impact would be trivial. It's a ploy from the usual free-trade suspects.

Today on TAP: Some in the administration are again pushing for tariff cuts. Their approach is bad economics and worse politics.

If Kyle Rittenhouse is the new face of the GOP, that's a gift for Democrats. And the verdict in the Arbery case demonstrates that even in the rural south, racist vigilantes can be brought to justice.

White House is making progress clearing the supply chain mess at the ports. The economists who blame the price pressures on public investments are ignorant. Nobody should be allowed to do macro without studying institutions first.

Expect a resurgence of emergency bipartisanship. With Trump gone, Republican senators will want relief for suffering constituents. Watch for a quiet GOP Caucus revolt against the obstruction of Mitch McConnell.

I prefer to say that Politico is amplifying and enhancing our reporting here. The takeaway is that anyone from WestExec going into the administration has to disclose their client list. That should be a hard demand.

Following progressive backlash against reports that Rahm Emanuel was being considered for transportation secretary, Joe Biden may now be considering the former Chicago mayor for the somewhat less visible position of U.S. trade representative.

Biden is considering not one but two deficit hawks to run OMB at a time when we need massive public investment. Decision expected before Thanksgiving. Joe: spare us these turkeys!
