We had quite the view of that big thunderstorm storm as it went past us last night.

Rory and I had an amazing time exploring the wildflowers on the ranch this morning! .There’s so many bright flowers out right now. We also found a couple of handfuls of wild strawberries in one of the bison pastures.

We’ve been bale grazing the bison out in the pasture over the winter the last couple years has really improved the quality of our forage stands. We’ve got a really good catch of Cicers Milk Vetch where we fed. We’ve only received an inch of rain over the last 2 months.

We’ve been dodging rain showers all weekend, so far no rain down here … yet .We’ve been fortunate to have good growing conditions all spring

We put down a pollinator blend last spring on the edge of our bison pasture. The bees are really active in here already and it’s really looking awesome as we head into summer.

We’ve had Buffalo Beans flowering this spring all around the ranch. Here’s what they look like when they flower and when they mature and where they get their name from. They’re a native legume that fixes nitrogen into our grass pastures.

I was setting out mineral tonight and a pretty curious bison calf came up to say hello !

The blue flowers from the wild flax showed up over night. These native prairie plants are always a great surprise when they pop up on the ranch.

The oats we planted last week are just starting to poke out of the ground. Hopefully the forest fire smoke clears and they get some sunlight!

Happy Monday !!!. We had a good shot of rain this weekend. The buffalo are feeling good and the pastures are looking green again!

We cooked some bison dino ribs on the Traeger today. They turned out awesome … probably one of the top 5 meals I’ve smoked on this grill. They were so tender and juicy !!!

Now that June is here there’s so many colourful wildflowers popping up all over the ranch. Watching nature get ready for summer is one of the best times of the year 🌼

I was out looking for bison calves this afternoon and went past one of the marshes in the pasture and seen a weird looking pair of birds. We’ve got a nesting pair of American Bitterns. It’s really cool to see how many unique plants, birds,and mammals here on the ranch

The crocuses are really showing up in the buffalo pastures now that all the snow from last week has melted!
