19 years. A "House of Horrors." A man demonised as a "monster." Now, an acquittal. #SupremeCourt said the #NithariKillings probe was "botched." So, if #SurendraKoli didn't kill the children, who did? Our deep dive on the system that failed everyone. https://t.co/RBPRTGs4xr

The Supreme Court didn't just free Surendra Koli; it delivered a damning indictment of an investigative system built on "conjecture" and "fabrication."

#CJIBRGavai today bid farewell to the #SupremeCourt on his last working day before he retires on November 23. Addressing the court, CJI Gavai said he started as a student of law, now 40 years later he retires as a student of justice. I report https://t.co/VfVbPrVY2p

The Bar say CJI Gavai's empathy, and a balance of interest shone in his judgements.

Also thrilled to find out that IndiaSpend got the most awards+jury appreciation citations this year at Laadli. I'm incredibly proud of the work that my small team with severe resource constraints has consistently delivered.
Happy to announce that @haripaliath, @nileena_suresh, @ValleyofS and @cinamann were recognised at last night’s Laadli Media Awards for Gender Sensitivity. This marks IndiaSpend’s fifth consecutive year of awards and appreciation at #Laadli.

#Breaking | #SupremeCourt 5-judge bench ruled that Governors cannot indefinitely sit on State bills even as it refused to set a timeline for Presidents/Govs as it would trample on separation of powers. SC said constitutional courts could step in when Govs do not act. @boomlive_in

#SupremeCourt judge Rajesh Bindal said tech firms must be held accountable for the content they host - especially manipulated media/deepfake material. India is entering a “cat-and-mouse era” where technology is evolving faster than regulation which in turn poses serious risks.

In a scathing indictment, HC said the Senior Citizens' Tribunal showed "only inaction & complete lack of empathy". There was "complete dereliction & abduction of their duties" when it failed to respond to the hospital's letters and complaints highlighting the son's negligence.

The son did not come. #BombayHighCourt in its detailed order mandated that the State would become the ailing mother's guardian & an FIR will be registered against the son who abandoned her. HC also pulled up police officials for their inaction when a complaint was 1st made.
#BombayHighCourt came to the relief of an aged mother when it gave her son one last chance of responsibility after he abandoned her at a Mumbai hospital. Failing which, HC warned him of penal consequences while also preventing him from accessing his mother's assets. @boomlive_in

#BombayHighCourt has given the son time till Nov18, 9 am to step up, shift his mother - abandoned at Holy Family Hospital, to Bhabha Hospital or any other govt hospital & settle all bills. HC further directed the State govt to step in if the son failed to comply with its order.

#Overheardinthecourtroom "In the recent past, we have noticed a growing trend of making scurrilous and scandalous allegations against a judge when they don't pass favourable orders. Such a practice needs to be strongly deprecated" - CJI BR Gavai, #SupremeCourt
