I am currently reading Sinners in the Hands of a Loving God by Brian Zahnd.
“God is like Jesus. God has always been like Jesus. There has never been a time when God was not like Jesus; we haven’t always known this, but now we do. God is like Jesus!”
This is not just a “how to” book or a theological book. It is a book that shares how Centering Prayer has healed and transformed me. And it can do the same for you!

“Dying to self means being willing to let go of what I want (or think I want) in order to create space for God to direct, lead, and guide me into a truer way of being.”
Cynthia Bourgeault
I used to believe I entered Centering Prayer to be filled with God.
I do not need to be filled with God.
God never stopped being in me.
This is a place I come from.
It teaches me who I am.
It teaches me how to live.

What does self-care look like for you?
One way I practice self-care is a silent prayer practice called centering prayer.

A mystic is someone who believes God can be experienced but not defined through languages. A mystic is someone who sits with God. No words are spoken. They simply sit with the experience and let it change them.
Mike McHargue
You cannot fail at centering prayer.
It does not matter if it is 1 minute or 20 minutes.
The most important thing to do is show up.
And keep showing up.
If you do it, it will do you.
Over time you will discover wonderful fruits of your practice.
Centering Prayer is not a race.
It’s a marathon.
Centering Prayer practiced on a daily basis will transform you.
If you are faithful to your practice, your practice will be faithful to you.
I bet you did not know this about me.
When I first started to practice silence it was painful.
I had heard that silence will transform you.
So, I began to sit in silence.
It was brutal!
There is enough for everyone. We do not need to compete, divide and split the field. We do not need to be jealous of others’ success, instead, we can choose to help each other to succeed and celebrate their success. Compete does not need to be mantra!
