We also discuss the role of #Machine #Learning in this endavour. This new frontier of #Space #Mining and ISRU is of relevance to planetary scientists, astrogeologists, space mission planners, engineers, and touch on aspects of space resource governance.

We identify the likely locations and types of Martian ore deposits and discuss their use for ISRU, covering all major types: magmatic, magmatic-hydrothermal, hydrothermal, sedimentary, surficial and spergene, and impact-related deposits.

We predict whether it might host #strategic #mineral #deposits that could be exploited to support future human missions on the planet. This offers a roadmap for reducing dependence on Earth-supplied resources and enabling sustainable off-world infrastructure.

By combining empirical and observational evidence from in situ analyses, orbital data, and meteorites, alongside currently accepted models for the geological evolution of Mars, we have looked at whether terrestrial ore-forming processes have operated in an analogous way on Mars.
