Now why wouldn’t Μιχαήλ Ψελλός refer to Latio Roman spokesmen while giving exemplary Roman citizens reference and prefers Pericles and Themistocles? Bcs 11 century Romanity and medieval Hellenism are the same, not only in Psellos’ opinion but across the 11 century Roman society.

Almost all ancient the Greek texts were preserved and transferred to the West by the eastern Romans. When we look at our classical libraries we are in fact looking at an east Roman classical library!. [Thread]🧵

Remembering Aug 12th 2020 incident when the Greek "Limnos" F451 Kortenaer-class frigate forcibly rammed onto the Turkish "Kemal Reis" F247 MEKO 200-type frigate. The "Kema(n)al Reis" suffered heavy damage but managed to stay afloat. Greek Navy: Ramming the barbarians since 480 BC
