aside from the traffic jam, it’s been pretty quiet around here the last two days

hearing word that traffic in the area is especially bad right now during rush hour. makes sense, they moved the checkpoint to the base of the bridge so three intersecting roads have to block the intersection until their turn to check in for the island. Causing bad road jams

Coast Guard Island at 5:30am today. Blinding floodlights at the base of the bridge, and the checkpoint has now moved even farther up into Oakland

ok read another report about bullet holes left in the u-haul. there’s speculation it was the same u-haul that had been posted in the street during the day. can’t see the plates to confirm.

can’t stick around today, someday i’d like to be able to focus all my energy on documenting the town for us. seems like there’s others doing real time coverage over on bluesky. if there’s anything happening tonight, dm and ill be there

i was nearby when it happened. i thought it was fireworks/firecrackers (common for oakland, as we know) and didn’t think much to go back. it sounded too soft to be that close by. i’m wondering if it was ‘less lethal’ munitions (which can still be lethal) but this is speculation

see video for the incident last night. reports allege a ‘known instigator’ was driving the u-haul. it begins a rush to back up towards the Coast Guard security forces on post on the bridge, who open fire. one person was shot

This morning at Coast Guard Island, OPD has the area taped off one block in all directions. Few ppl are around. Not sure why it’s still taped off from last night as there was no fatality from the shots fired by Coast Guard.
