I understand the sentiment and well done for being honest about the transgression but this is a pretty poor attitude to take towards exceeding the speed limit, especially a professional in the industry. 🤔.

Lots made of the huge work and cross-sector collaboration needed to do real world trials of safety critical technologies in the public realm (and with considerable headwinds over the last couple of years) - something of which the @NewsfromTRL-led team can be rightfully proud.

. due to the requirement to break up the platoon in the vicinity of most motorway junctions as a safety precaution. Industry engagement suggested the efficiency gain is probably less than would be persuasive to invest at present.

Quick summary - relatively conservative analysis of >12,000 miles of driving suggests a small real world fuel benefit of platooning vs traditional ACC (and no safety disbenefit, despite closer following distance when platooning) but UK roads not best suited to the approach. .

Looking forward to hearing the results of the Helm UK truck platooning trials in the project closure event at @Plexalcity. A safe and efficient technology to reduce trucking costs or a system that has missed its time? Let's see. !
