After a few nights of reading through thousands of pages of PRMs I have finally implemented a modesetting driver for Intel HD graphics on Redox OS: https://t.co/NNIJpT2HfZ. There is much more to do, but there is now a clear path to native hardware accelerated graphics! - Jeremy

There's still some weirdness but I have mate-session running on Redox. We now have GTK, X11, wayland, d-bus, and dconf ported (though there are still some bugs). With these fundamentals in place, porting software from Linux has become much easier. - Jeremy Soller

The video plays well with no audio skips even with a transparent terminal on top of it. Software rendering is still the largest limitation of the Redox OS desktop, although it has been highly optimized. 2/2 - Jeremy Soller

Redox OS performance is steadily improving. Here is 1080p video being played on a 1440p display. Most of the CPU usage is software video decoding, with the orbital windowing system adding minimal overhead. A careful look through the CPU times can verify this. 1/2

I am wanting to write a recap of my time at #RustConf 2025 for Redox. If we met at the conference, please reply to this with a brief reminder of some items we talked about (even if I should remember)! This will also help us to spin up those that wanted to contribute 🦀🚀
