After my divorce, I thought I could never love again. Because I lived on boats and traveled so much, I went 25 yrs without a dog. My rescue hound dog in 2016 taught me I could love again. So you've at least got that with Woody. (Which is a lot!) It gets better with time.

I've always been a bit of a loner. I sailed around the world alone. I've got a wonderful rescue hound now and at almost 71, I can't imagine trying to share my life with another human. When I feel the need to be around others, I just go to the store or in town and I'm over it PDQ.

I sing to my dog ("It's OK, it's OK, it's OKayyyyyyy.") when he wakes like this and he lays back down with a look and sigh like: "Noooooo! Not this again!!" He was treated harshly by a previous owner, so every time he's startled, he thinks he's in trouble. "OK" is a safe word.
