We're interested in user feedback about the future of our MSRV choices in cryptography. Please feel free to comment here:
github.com
When we added Rust to cryptography we originally required a rustc of >=1.45. Through initial feedback we dropped this MSRV to 1.41 to ease the transition. Time, however, marches ever onward. We ...

I wrote up a deep dive of the Linux random number generator highlights for the upcoming 5.17 & 5.18. There should be something for everyone in there - kernel programming, cryptography, a tiny bit of Windows reversing, and plenty of commit links. Enjoy!

pyca/cryptography users, we're looking at deprecating several legacy algorithms but we'd like to hear from people who need them. What do you need? What are you doing with it? Please weigh in on
github.com
cryptography ships numerous legacy symmetric algorithms that, anecdotally, have very low use. These algorithms have a variety of security drawbacks when compared to more modern equivalents (namely ...

We just released pyca/cryptography 35.0.0 to PyPI. Now with pure rust X.509 parsing! Super proud of the work @alex_gaynor and I did (but more Alex than me!). We're also shipping musllinux wheels, which makes our adoption of Rust simpler for Alpine users. 🎉

Exercise for cryptography students: the IND-CCA definition, but the challenge (encryption) oracle evaluates an unspecified adversarially-generated black-box predicate F(), and outputs plaintext anytime F(M)=1. Do you deploy this scheme?

Oh. Time to buy stock in Brawndo, I guess.
SCOOP: Tennessee Department of Health halts all vaccine outreach to kids – not just for COVID-19, but all diseases – amid pressure from GOP. Staff ordered to remove the agency logo from any documents providing vaccine info to the public, per internal dox.

The single biggest challenge I have in Rust right now is not lifetimes or ownership. It is that I cannot stop typing "fun" when I mean "fn". And the rust compiler is not hugely helpful when you do this.

I avoid commenting on members of congress & their inane remarks. But as a recent recipient of multiple death threats, this clear call to violence by a member of congress is beyond the pale. It’s disqualifying & un-American. If you associate w/ this, you’re part of the problem.
