1/2 Today I was on set when I found out the tragic news that my good friend Jamal Edwards had passed away and I’m honestly heartbroken. Jamal was one of the nicest, most down to earth and humble men I’ve met in this industry. He always gave me time even when no one else would.
So happy to say that 6 years after my public breakdown I’ll be going back to the same hospital to help the other patients with there Mental Health as I start my training as a Peer Support Worker with the
@NHS_ELFT
Gonna do everything I can to break this stigma once and for all.
Sadly
@instagram
have decided to deactivate my new account. All because 10 months ago I posted content stating some truths about Noel Clarke. I’ve been nothing but professional since then & would have hoped they’d review & reverse my lifetime ban. Told the truth & paid the price.
So happy to the announce the great news with you that after 21 years of acting I’m finally gonna be flying to South Africa to play the villain in my first Hollywood movie, Feel truly blessed..Thank you to all the supporters. Work hard and never lose faith
#Hackney2Hollywood
🙏🏼❤️
2/2 He was an inspiration and what he achieved in life was truly remarkable. Thinking of his friends and family at this devastating time. RIP Jamal Edwards. 🕊 💔
Sad to say but even though It was 5years ago since I had my public breakdown It feels like the industry still don’t fully trust me even though I’ve been on set and had various jobs in film and theatre..Just cos someone suffers from mental health it doesn’t make them unreliable.
1/1 A year ago today I was taken to Mile End Hospital to recover from a bipolar episode brought on by the impact of lockdown amongst other things. My spirits were low but what a difference a year can make.
Today I say goodbye to my 30s as tomorrow I reach the big 40. I hope the next decade is a little less turbulent. Time to put the past behind me and focus on a bright and positive future. It’s never too late to turn your life around.
1/3 10 years ago today I won the bafta rising star award. I was up against Hollywood elite and even with all the support I received I never dreamed I could actually win. I didn’t even write a speech, I just spoke from the heart and I’ll forever be grateful for everyone who voted.
Really hope
@britneyspears
gets the justice she deserves. If she is well enough to sing and entertain the world then she is well enough to be in control of her own money and more importantly her own life. No one should be written off because of their Mental Health.
#FreeBritney
This time 3 years ago I was sectioned sitting in hospital thinking to myself I’m never gonna feel “normal” again, came out n went through a year of depression n again never thought it would end. but it did n now I feel better n more creative than ever. Things really do get better
Thank you for all the love and support regarding my
@DoctorsBBC
episode. Even though it was just a small part It was great to be back on set acting. Hopefully I’ll get to do this a lot more. On set is where I’m most happiest. Big up all the supporters always. Love you
#Deaconets
Heart goes out to the freinds and family of Caroline Flack. we need to understand though that mental health can effect anyone, it doesn’t matter how successful you are. the pressure in the entertainment industry can be one of the hardest. we just need to care more for each other.
Over eight years of hard work and struggle to get this script off the ground, but here we are…
SUMOTHERHOOD IN CINEMAS NATIONWIDE FROM TODAY.
Would really appreciate all your support with this one.
Love always! x
My career was definitely destroyed by Noel Clarke. He would brag about it. So I’m honestly so proud of
@thedalstonyears
and
@Lucy_Osborne
and all the women that came forward to speak the truth. And
@guardian
for ignoring the lawyers and finally putting the real story out there.
So upset to hear the news that my drama teacher and mentor from the very start, Anna Scher, has sadly passed away.
I’m truly heartbroken. I owe everything to this amazing woman. She helped me and so many other working-class kids coming from a bad start to not only get a chance…
Good news for everyone asking about Sumotherhood.
@ParamountUK
have decided to bring the release date forward.
My brand new action comedy will now be in theatres in the UK and Ireland October 13th.
2/2 I’ve been lucky enough to complete 4 movies, a tv episode and I’m currently training to be a Peer Support worker for the NHS. I wanted to put this out there so people know that there can be light at the end of the tunnel and things really can turn around.
I need to raise the point that many people suffer from Mental Health problems but they don’t say the things Wiley has been saying. I hate to say this as I’m massive fan of Wiley’s music but what he’s been saying is wrong. Any form of racism is wrong. Just really hope he gets help
All jokes aside I had a breakdown and made mistakes, burnt bridges and can understand why the industry might see me as a liability and not wanna cast me due to everything that happened but not being on set kills me. actually hurts my heart not doing what I love. It’s all I know
So apparently the Acting Industry say they are scared of hiring me because of my tweets. But I wish these same people would actually read what I’m saying and try to take the time to understand that having Mental Health issues does not make someone unemployable..Well it shouldn’t!
Premiere ready..
Having the World Premiere for Sumotherhood on the same day as
#WorldMentalHealthDay
has made everything feel even more special.
Remember it doesn’t matter how hard things get. I promise you there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. You can get through it.
No matter what you’re going through or how hard things seem, your mind is incredibly strong and you can get through it. You can heal and there can be brighter days ahead, it just takes time and you don’t have to struggle in silence. You’re amazing and loved
#WorldMentalHealthDay
I really do hope the media will change the way they deal with mental health to. Whatever you do for a living at the end of the day were just normal people who need a little help sometimes. This is how they handled mine and it nearly pushed me over the edge if I’m being honest. 👇🏼
3/3 Thank you to everyone including my amazing girlfriend, family, friends, Donny my dog and the supporters that have stood by me through the highs and the lows. I really love you all and should have some very exciting news for you very soon. X
When you’ve been at your lowest point in life and literally lost your mind in the process and then finally you get your mind right again.. You feel normal again..that’s the best feeling in the world.
2/2 I didn’t realise my win would upset so many people including Harvey Weinstein who shook his head as my name was announced and I had no idea what I was going to face soon after this win.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my followers. 🎄 I hope you all have a great 2023! 💫 This year has been difficult for so many of us for so many reasons. I just really hope that next year my film can put a smile on peoples faces and bring a little joy and happiness. 🎬
Just been offered a very small cameo role in my first American sci fi series. ☺️Great to know I’m gonna be on set again soon. Small steps but it all helps. Thanks for all your support.
#ActorsLife
Thank you to everyone who has supported my recovery in the last five years. And to the people that have given me a second chance I really appreciate it..mental health does not have to define you..people and situations can change and you can get better.
10Years ago today my first film that I wrote, directed, and starred in hit the UK cinemas. It went on to win me a
@BAFTA
voted for by the people. I’m so proud of this. Thank you to everyone who supported
#Anuvahood
Hoping to have some very exciting news for all the fans real soon
3/3 All I know is that at the time it was the most amazing feeling and still to this day I’m super proud of what I achieved that night. Never stop dreaming and pushing for better. You can achieve anything with focus and perseverance.
14 years ago on this date a little film I was in called
#Kidulthood
was released.( Directed by
@menhajhuda
) I swear this guy needs more credit for what he did with this film! But yeah met some of my closest friends in the industry..Also met a couple pricks but hey that’s life.😜
Me suicidal and was part of the reason why I was sectioned in 2014. I’m going to try and let things go now and move on with my life but I thank everyone that has genuinely been concerned about my mental health. Lockdown has been hard on everyone and I’m no exception. ❤️🙏🏼
#Love
Thank you to all my supporters who have stood by me through everything.
It’s not long now until I finally get to show you all what I’ve been working on for the last eight years.
Never give up.
Love you always.
