I’ve called Audius a “Layer 1 for Music” in a few different contexts, so let’s dig into what I think this means today and more importantly what I think it should imply about the future of internet music 👇 (0/n).

I don’t mean this as a subtweet or Zora or Pump — but content is not fundamentally (inherently) valuable. In fact the ‘value’ of content in the abstract has declined astronomically with the advent of cheap AI. Just look at the slop of replies to (probably this) tweet as proof.

Some other ideas:.- meaningful fan tiers (more than just "biggest bag").- direct & braggable recognition for being early.- quests/raids/easter eggs via existing social platforms.- airdrops based on song ID-ing off platform.- spotify wrapped for "investment impact".- deep.

the super-fan that eats up this kind of content is already here doing stuff, but the apps aren't good enough. imagine a normal-looking interface where those users are financially incentivized too??.

the timing feels super good for this - more and more artists are doing things like re-releasing the same content with creative twists (see @fredagainagain1 's victory lap, which is only barely possible on the existing release rails on the major DSPs .

web3 has invented a way for fans to easily make money by being fans. That's an *insane* value prop, but somehow we haven't be able to deliver an interface where anyone understands that. hardly anyone I know that loves music thinks about any of this stuff.

I think "music capital markets" has potential (just like music-NFTs did, lol). but someone still needs to figure out how to introduce the concepts to spotify users.
