I've seen lots of people asking when they will start getting paid for the solar energy they feed back to the grid. This is the situation....
#Microgeneration
@EamonRyan
signed the regulations on microgeneration payments on the 15th of February. The first payments will be made by July 1st.
(That is the latest possible date, a lot of people will be paid earlier, it depends on billing cycles)
That's the date of first payment. Many people (again,it depends on contracts) have been accumulating credit since the regulations were signed in February.
The tariff rate depends on the company (and is variable anyway) but the electricity you sell back to the grid will always get more than the wholesale price.
(A lot of people with solar panels get a battery for storage, which is pretty expensive. Now you can just sell your surplus to the grid, a simple solution, easier and cheaper to set up)

The regulations apply to everyone, but the implementation details will be different for different companies, so they'll have to get in touch with their supplier.

Thanks for this. Was only looking into this a few days ago. This should drive cost of installation down as no batteries will be required. Great for the consumer and about time too.
