Pretty much lays out why I never cared for the direction Chris Sabat took with his Vegeta voice: an oafish sounding grunty voice with a heavy rasp. Vegeta’s more sophisticated than that, but is capable of losing his cool. Ryo Horikawa & Brian Drummond understood this.
Vegeta's brutishness has finesse. He wants to see what all the fuss over Goku is about but to the end of making Goku disappoint his friends by not being their savior. He also wants Goku to suffer loss. He has to placate Nappa like a child just so he can calm down and wait.
