Season 95/96, Game 57.PORT VALE 1, GRIMSBY 0.Aspin. A rare event occurred at Vale Park as Neil Aspin became an unlikely goalscorer for the Valiants. His stunning individual goal earned Vale all 3pts. He only scored 3 times in over 400 games for the club! Att 5,796 #legend

Season 95/96, Game 56.WATFORD 5, PORT VALE 2. Foyle, Porter. Vale suffered another defeat, their 3rd on the spin, beaten heavily at Watford. Goals from Martin Foyle & Andy Porter were not enough as Vale went on to concede five. Att 9,066 #pvfc

Season 95/96, Game 55.PORT VALE 1, OLDHAM 3.Mills. Vale were comprehensively beaten at home by Oldham. Lee Mills scored for Vale, pictured, but it seemed their exertion’s in league & cup had caught up with them with this performance. Att 7,796 #portvale

Season 95/96, Game 54.BIRMINGHAM 3, .PORT VALE 1.Porter. Vale’s 12 match unbeaten league run came to an end as they lost at Birmingham City. Andy Porter scored a consolation goal as a weary looking Vale side were no match for their hosts. Lee Mills is in action. Att 17,469

Season 95/96, Game 53.CRYSTAL PALACE 2, .PORT VALE 2.Foyle, McCarthy. Vale stormed back from 2 down at half time to earn a draw thanks to goals from Martin Foyle & Jon McCarthy. It ended their six game winning run but Rudge’s men were now unbeaten in 12. Att 14,180 #pvfc

Season 95/96, Game 52.PORT VALE 3, BARNSLEY 0.Foyle, Porter, Naylor. Six of the best for Vale. Goals from Martin Foyle, Andy Porter & Tony Naylor saw Vale make it six league wins in a row. The Valiants were now staring at the playoffs rather than relegation! Att 7,358

Season 95/96, Game 48.PORT VALE 2, GENOA 5.Foyle 2. Vale made their 3rd Wembley trip in 4 yrs as they played @GenoaCFC in the Anglo Italian Cup Final. It didn’t go well as they were beaten by a far superior Genoa side on the day. Martin Foyle scored twice. Att 12,663 #pvfc

Season 95/96, Game 47.PORT VALE 1, STOKE CITY 0.Bogie. Vale’s rearranged game v the neighbours got off to the perfect start. A goal after just 12 seconds & it proved to be the winner from Ian Bogie. A Bogie double after his winning goal in the 1-0 win at Stoke. Att 16,737

Season 95/96, Game 46.PORT VALE 2, SOUTHEND 1.McCarthy, L Glover. A first league win for nearly 2 months, mainly due to their FACup/AIC exploits, saw Vale close the gap on teams around them near the bottom of Div1. Jon McCarthy, pictured & Lee Glover with the goals. Att 6,222

Season 95/96, Game 43.PORT VALE 1, LEEDS UTD 2.Naylor. Vale’s FACup heroics came to an end as a last minute goal from Gary McAllister sunk the Valiants. Tony Naylor had put Vale ahead but as extra time seemed likely Leeds struck late in this 5th round replay. Att 14,023
