As a son of a poor, Mexican immigrant family, I’m humbled to finish my vascular surgery training at @NMCardioVasc & start my job as Assistant Professor of Surgery at @Stanford @StanfordVasc & provide care to a diverse patient population at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center!

Hispanic Heritage Month is a reminder of why I went into medicine. As a proud son of Mexican immigrants, my early exposure to medicine was being my parents’ interpreter for any clinic/hospital visits. The lack of physicians that didn’t look or speak like us motivated me. 1/
