Conor Timmins is a sneaky good addition to the Sabres. One of the better third pairing offensive defensemen in the league, and provides Buffalo with a right handed shot. $2.2 million seems like a good deal. #SabreHood

$5.1 mil AAV should age fairly well for Jackson Blake. Seems to do everything well except shoot, and has some success in the Top 6 at 21 y/o. Smart for Carolina to abuse deferred money before it’s banned. #RaiseUp

Really surprised Joel Kiviranta can’t find a contract. Excellent defensive player, 16 goals, kills penalties, and only made league minimum last season. Someone should pick him up to bolster their third line, he might be the best Free Agent left.

Dakota Joshua is the definition of a reclamation project. Has some good seasons under his belt, but his last one was really bad. He’s likely replacement level at this point but there at least is some upside for Toronto here. 3 year term is a little scary. #LeafsForever

Bowen Byram is going to have to figure out his game at some point. Right now he looks like a player Buffalo should sell high on and piggyback off of his reputation to get something good. #Sabrehood

Good to see Jeff Skinner get a contract with San Jose. He wasn’t utilized enough in Edmonton IMO, particularly in the playoffs where he looked good in the games he did actually play. Underrated player. #TheFutureIsTeal

Samoskevich is one of the most underrated young players in the league. The Panthers just signed him for $800K next year. Robbery. Should easily replace Rodrigues or whoever they have to ship out. #TimeToHunt

Big time buyer beware on Bryan Rust. 33 y/o who already has some of the worst defensive metrics in the league at both 5v5 and 4v5. The exact type of problem that you don’t notice by reading box scores. Rust should not cost the haul it sounds like he’ll cost. #LetsGoPens

This is how teams fared in Free Agency based on cap dollars per WAR, trying to determine the efficient spenders. Asterisk on COL with Brent Burns performance bonuses but still good. SEA, ANA, PHI burned cash fast. LAK really inefficient here considering they signed 5 guys.

I think the Jack McBain deal is pretty solid. Good two-way player who can play center and knows how to kill penalties. At 25 years old $4.25m x 5 yrs seems fair. Really like what Utah is doing lately. #TusksUp

Carolina once again signs the most available WAR in Free Agency. Seattle and Anaheim only signed one player and it was enough to sink them to the bottom. Philly spent money recklessly and did not improve their current team. No extensions count. Included Marner for Vegas.

That Ehlers contract is awesome for Carolina. Ehlers has been underrated for a long time (mostly by WPG) and was the best Free Agent to actually hit the market. Very good signing by Eric Tulsky. #RaiseUp

That Ryan Lindgren contract is terrible. Seattle might be the worst run team in the NHL. Jason Botterrill back to his old tricks again. #SEAKraken

Impossible to tell how the Boeser contract will age IMO. At face value he’s worth $7.25 million, but he’s had seasons where he’s been sub-NHL talent. Mediocre player at 5v5 but shoots it as well as basically anyone. As long as the shot stays, the value should too. #Canucks

Not in love with the Tanner Jeannot deal for Boston. Hard to know exactly what this player is at this point, just kinda looks like a poor third liner who hits and forgot how to shoot after his rookie season. #NHLBruins

The Habs pick up a great young center in Zack Bolduc. IMO this guy easily has 2C potential and fits in perfectly. That’s top pair RHD and 2C cleaned up for Montreal’s future, just in one week. Kent Hughes is absolutely cooking. #GoHabsGo
