i should have picked up Centuria and After God and Bugle Call when i had the chance now im just gonna be seen as a chainsaw man fandom refugee

it's not just that the characters are likeable on surface level, they're also emotionally layered as well. there's a level of grit & realism to the story that keeps it emotionally grounded in spite of all of the chaotic absurdity. and that's the core of what makes the manga work

the manga is a masterwork of weaving tragedy and comedy together so seamlessly without any sort of tonal dissonance. aki's memories spliced throughout the eternity devil are an incredible example of this, switching between intimate, hilarious and both simultaneously effortlessly

people hype up that one chapter from p2 but csm has always had a deeply political, anti-american edge to it that hooked me from the start. i won't claim that chainsaw man is leftist or whatever but i think that its a far more politically bold than fucking one piece or whatever

something that makes chainsaw man stands out so vividly from other shonen and other manga in general in my eyes is that fujimoto will just allow the reader to sit in silence. it makes all of the emotion of a scene cut so, so much deeper than any internal monologue ever could

other shonen manga have this problem where they have these large ensembles of characters but, for me at least, they all just kind of become forgettable. in chainsaw man, even when a character isn't that important, they're still memorable and very fun to watch

nobody in this manga is normal. they're all fucked up, traumatized, and/or just completely unhinged weirdos. even the characters who try to come off as "normal" like arai or aki. it makes every character stick in your mind so quickly and become instantly likable

fujimoto has incredible talent for character writing. this is where the dynamic of the main trio gets introduced and they're all so distinct and bounce off each other so amazingly even despite following the archetypical "protagonist, cute girl, angsty boy" formula

these are the people calling others tourists and complaining about "covid newgens"

are these people fucked up and gross yes but the real reason they bother me so much is because they are SO FUCKING ANNOYING and they never shut up about it they are so pretentious and defensive and constantly posting about this shit and getting in my mentions it is INSUFFERABLE

dude i just checked the comments of one of my homestuck posts that blew up and for some reason i see some person just arguing that andrew hussie is a "proshipper" and homestuck is "proship media" and that "antis" are fake homestuck fans what the fuck is wrong with these people
