The company has put out press releases only after members of the public start asking questions. These incidents cannot become routine.

The public too often learns about these releases first through mandatory federal filings or from media reports, not from direct communication with the communities along the route.

Fast forward to this year, and Olympic has already had three known releases: a July spill of up to 35 gallons of diesel at the Renton Pipeline Station due to equipment failure,

In 2022, the pipeline spilled 67 gallons of gasoline near Woodinville. Then, one year later, on Dec. 10, 2023, Olympic spilled over 20,000 gallons of gasoline in Skagit County just a short distance from a school.

The recent spill from BP's Olympic Pipeline adds to a growing list of incidents that have accumulated over the past two and a half years.

Since 2016, Nevada’s pipeline safety program website has received a perfect score in PST’s annual State Pipeline Safety Website Transparency Review.

From 2011 to 2025, Nevada has since eliminated all the known Aldyl-A pipe within its natural gas distribution system, undoubtedly making communities safer as a result.
