can't believe how incredibly nice everyone’s been in the comments - all for a browser tool to mute ads for a biscuit (that most won't even install). there must've been a lot of collective quiet suffering caused by these ads for something so niche to get such a warm response.
Compelled by those atrocious Parle Marie ads, I wrote a tiny browser extension to auto mute certain IPL ads on Hotstar. It actually works really well and also mutes Vimal, Kamla Pasand, My11, Pokerbaazi etc ads out of the box. (link below)

slightly related: also made a small browser extension/adblock filter to remove those newly introduced intrusive tobacco warning overlays from Prime Video.
If you prefer a chrome extension, here are the instructions to download this Amazon Prime Tobacco Warning Remover. I can't be arsed to publish to the chrome store and go through their soul sucking submission process because I still have some will to live 🙏. (github link below)

Getting QTed by @karpathy for ranting about Ludo King spying on me wasn't on my bingo card. Hope this glaring privacy loophole will reach more people now.
The post below was trending last few days and reminded me that my earlier digital hygiene post was woefully incomplete without a discussion around smartphone choices. The post goes into how on Android apps routinely use a loophole (that Android has known about and not fixed for.
