Congress has just passed legislation that strips away necessities like food and affordable healthcare from millions of people in the U.S. In every corner of the country, including MA, people will go hungry and their health will suffer. Hospitals and food retailers will close.

Just now, in an act of unimaginable cruelty, Congress passed legislation that will take basic needs — including food and affordable healthcare — from millions of Americans.

The House is preparing to vote on the largest cuts to federal nutrition programs in U.S. history. The "Big Beautiful Bill" is in direct opposition to the idea that the Trump administration wants to make America healthy again. #MAHA #mapoli.

The Senate passed their version of the budget — if that becomes law, 250,000 people in MA could lose access to healthcare, according to Jennifer Obadia, Senior Director of Health Care Partnerships at Project Bread.

While the proposed cuts in Congress do not specifically target child nutrition programs, cuts to Medicaid and SNAP as is currently written into the House and Senate bills will negatively impact School Meals, Summer Meals, WIC and Sun Bucks.

We are also grateful to the MA Legislature for funding critical Project Bread programs like the FoodSource Hotline and the Child Nutrition Outreach Program to increase participation in school and summer meals. #mapoli #FeedKids #FoodSecurity.
