Ashley is on to something here, but what happened to nicknames in baseball?. I grew up with the Big Hurt, Ryno, the Big Unit, Bash Brothers….
Baseball has some of the best player names consistently. If I knew zero about any sport, I’d still know without a doubt that someone named Catfish Hunter was a baseball player. Vida Blue? Baseball player (we had a kid on our oldest kids LL team named Vida Blue a few years.
