Mr.Datta was a legend and an icon and a role model. His stewardship of the best consumer company in India during an exciting period of change will remain the gold standard in leadership for decades to come. RIP, sir. Om Shanti. @HUL_News.

On a personal note, I remember the sharp and incisive questions that he posed to me, then a Management Trainee, as part of my confirmation interview. I came away from the engagement inspired and energized. My subsequent interactions too always left a strong & lasting impression.

The list of acquisitions was long and breath-takingly ambitious - Ponds, Brooke Bond, Lipton, Tomco, Kissan, Lakme, Kwality. He transformed HLL from being primarily a soaps and detergents company to being a true consumer goods powerhouse.

Saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. SM Datta, former Chairman of Hindustan Lever Ltd. He was the true architect of the modern day HUL, seizing the opportunities that economic liberalization provided the company, by forging a series of mergers and acquisitions.

India clearly provides a far superior travel and hospitality experience across the board, something that we do not always recognize or appreciate.

I have been on business travel in the US for the last fortnight and have been struck by how poor the experience has been. Airport infrastructure in the US is weak (especially at JFK), domestic air travel is unpleasant and the guest experience at hotels leaves much to be desired.

This brings back memories! I had launched Annapurna Salt and Atta in Andhra Pradesh in 1994. The brand grew to acquire significant scale for HUL but could not break out of the commodity trap.

My thoughts and prayers are with former colleagues in #DPEurasia Turkey, and their families. Hope and pray they are safe and well.

Deeply saddened to hear of this. I had the privilege of working with Mr.Krishnakumar when I was at NourishCo and he was Board Chair. He then became a mentor and guide to me. Rest in peace sir🙏, you leave an incredible legacy behind.

Our focus over the next 25 years has to be on driving economic growth, generating employment, eliminating poverty, providing free education, health care, and social security for all citizens. India will be an economically developed, poverty-free, vibrant democracy by 2047.

This 75th Independence Day, we remember that our founding fathers envisioned India as an inclusive, equal & fearless democracy. Our diversity-of culture, language, religion, ethnicity-has  been & will always remain our greatest strength and source of our unique national identity.

Where the mind is without fear, and the head is held high.Where knowledge is free.….Where  the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls.Where words come out of the depth of truth.….Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake.
