While Linux was mostly for the tech geeks (in Bangalore and other places), the unique thing about Kerala was that here it was more of a people's movement - the non-IT crowd was prominent among the early adopters.

Later, there was Cosmo Books in Thrissur which had a young sales manager setting up Linux on the shop computers by reading the Linux books in his shop, long before the general IT crowd in Bangalore had even heard about Linux 😀.

There was this bookshop in Kochi called "Mindstorm" which had printed copies of TLDP (the linux documentation project) docs - one of the first bookshops in India selling the first books ever written about Linux!.

Fun fact: Model Engineering College (Kerala) got its first Linux lab just a bit later -
