I spent 10,000+ hours practicing and studying the game of golf. I’ve distilled everything I know into a book, which I’m proud to announce has launched today. This is my life’s work. Enjoy! https://t.co/ulFyDsfW2I

Most golfers think they’re working on their game. In reality, the way they structure it guarantees they’ll stay stuck. Here are a few common types of players: 1) The “tip chaser” - tries something new every week from YouTube. 2) The “just play golfer” - never practices, then

Recently, I re-read Harvey Penick's Little Red Book. It had been a long time, and I was struck again by the timeless wisdom. Here are some of my favorite quotes that reinforce many of the topics I enjoy discussing. On Impact Location... “Many average golfers are not sure

Most golfers don't realize their score is controlled by one silent habit - the questions they ask themselves during a round. If I asked most players what they're trying to do on each hole, I'd get answers like "well, I'm trying to make a par or a birdie here." Of course, that's

One of my favorite responses to this question when I've asked it before... "Getting better at golf is like diligently investing your money in low cost index funds while simultaneously playing gas station scratch-offs"

I get the most bizarre pitches for guests on our podcast from PR people. They usually go something like this "I enjoyed your last episode about (golf topic). And it got me thinking about nuclear physics. Would you be interested in having Dr. X on to discuss fission as a

Working on the script for my next YT video and including one of my favorite mantras from my dad: "It's hard to smell the roses in the middle of a 💩 storm" He's not a golfer, but damn, that hits.

What mini-habits do you feel have improved your game the most? It could be placing a range bucket behind you to force you to take time between shots. Doing a post-round review for 5-10 minutes. What are the small things that have become a part of your game?

I have a recurring nightmare that involves me in a tournament stuck on a tee box not able to find the right tee height. Everyone is staring at me and I can’t pull the trigger. Had it last night. It’s terrifying 😂

This is the one piece of advice that could save golfers multiple strokes overnight. That's without having to watch 150 YT videos promising to fix your slice! But many will dismiss it because it's too simple, or let the heat of the moment get to them (happens to me too)
@practicalgolf A good friend of mine told me the best and hardest piece of advice. “When you get in trouble your #1 priority should be to get out of trouble” Takes many years and strong mental focus to implement into competitive play. Once accomplished, you’d be surprised how many shots you can

“I hit 65% of my fairways” This is some info, but not enough. How far did you hit it? 180 yards is not nearly the same as 240 yards in the fairway What happened when you missed? Was it just off the fairway with a manageable lie? Out of bounds or in the trees? Two massively

Consider this - in Scotland, you need a medical exemption to ride in a cart. People of all ages, economic backgrounds, and physical conditions find a way to do it (unless they genuinely can't). A study in Sweden found golfers lived 5 years longer, and a lot of that had to do
How the golf cart destroyed American golf culture: Disclaimer: I play in carts sometimes. This isn’t “You suck if you play in a golf cart”. Public golf culture in the USA has a lot of problems. And imo the golf cart was what changed the game. In the UK and Australia, golf is

One of the biggest mistakes I’ve made in golf is playing too conservatively/scared. I didn’t understand I was losing strokes by playing what I thought was “safe” or “smart” in certain situations, particularly off the tee. Also, I realized that when I was playing well, I could

GIR = 👑
@practicalgolf 2.4 here … it’s just really boring. GIRs are the life blood your handicap needs to be below 10. proximity to hole is how i got below 5. never three putt. no penalty strokes. it’s just really boring.
