π¨ Important new paper just out in Science Advances: What were the effects of 2020 COVID lockdowns and disruptions on households in lower income countries?
(From 26 co-authors on 3 continents!)
Summary/brief:
Full Paper:
With vaccines not expected to be fully available for some time in poorer countries, and the dangers of new variants spreading, addressing the COVID crisis means taking urgent action now to help mitigate the economic fallout in poorer countries.
The international community must draw on knowledge of how to strengthen safety nets, get aid to those who need it, and bolster livelihoods and economies. The fight against the virus is a global one, and we must respond globally as well.
