Yet another account of “community support” officers harassing students in Pollock Halls. Shockingly tone deaf. They behave like school bullies out to threaten and intimidate the students here. Absolutely unacceptable. This can’t go on.

Uni authorities have asked the TRC group, who were offering free counselling sessions for freshers struggling with mental health, to stop offering this service‼️Clearly the university priorities good PR over our mental health‼️shocking. please retweet so students can get help !

As girls, this message was quite hard to digest for us. Regardless of Covid, the way staff operate in Pollock is unacceptable. Young girls cannot and will not feel safe here until these staff members are held accountable. please spread the word and show that this is not okay!

It seems as though the food situation has vastly improved today! We’ve had lots of pleased messages from students in iso about the big change in food quality. These are baby steps but we thank @EdinburghUni for at least starting to listen to us.

Two separate accounts of people not being fed anything until 8pm in the evening - or being forgotten about all together. @EdinburghUni you had 6 months to organise a very basic system to feed the students that are forced to isolate here... Remind me what we’re paying for again?

We have still had no response from @EdinburghUni to our calls for active mental health support, 3 proper nutritious meals a day and daily exercise for those isolating. We’re not asking for much, just a bit of human decency... seeing as we’re now in a ton of student debt for this.

stop scapegoating students for failure of governments and institutions in handling the Covid crisis. the universities chose to send us on to campus because they wanted our money, putting everyone at higher risk. this is not our fault. we’re just asking for some basic necessities.

Pollock House is mostly international students. They accept the isolation, just want more, better food. You're highly unlikely to catch covid outside, at a distance.

The “nutritious” meals that @EdinburghUni are feeding their supposedly unwell students in isolation. Meals have too few calories and are massively over the sugar content recommendation for the average person. we’re paying 7 to 9 grand for catered halls to get this?! #feedpollock

A student today noted that he had an upset stomach and had to force himself to throw up. He looked after at the noodles he ate earlier and was disgusted to find that his noodles that he purchased earlier from the @EdinburghUni JMCC shop, were out of date by 2 months and a bit!
