An editor can't guarantee your manuscript will get published. All an editor can do is help polish and support your work so if it does get published, it'll live up to its full potential and will more effectively resonate with and immerse your readers #WritingCommnunity

An excellent video touching on issues within the publishing industry that've become more prevalent in recent years. These are examples of precisely why I'm "overly thorough" when editing for my authors. https://t.co/KYn61NYnJU

If you don't like trigger warnings as a reader, just skip them. Just because you don't need them doesn't mean other readers don't. Also, as a writer, it's your responsibility to give your readers a heads-up regarding sensitive topics. They're only spoilers if you provide context.

There’s a lot of people on here that seem to be obsessed with trying to be Stephen King and emulate his writing method. Be yourself. Find your own way. That’s far more potent and meaningful for a creator.

When I logged in today, I had over 800 "followers." Now, I know how many *real* followers I have. I purged: - Bot accounts - P0rn accounts - Anyone inactive for over two years - Anyone supporting MAGA (or similar groups/people) Just shows how much this platform has fallen ...

Nothing quite like pausing my website refresh to clean out bots and MEGA supporters from my follower list 😌

Some writers need their word processor to have a certain aesthetic. I need purple keycaps and neon lights.

Shout out to @AlyssaMatesic for her hard work in getting this data compiled for the #writingcommunity! If you're currently drafting or querying one (or more) of these most desired genres, this could be your year to land an agent for these projects! https://t.co/dSbClmwGuK

I, too, enjoy splitting the infinitive. And support it—as a writer and an editor! I also support ending sentences with a preposition. https://t.co/kanNqGJCmi

#writingcommunity Do you have any favourite words? Not crutch words, but words you just like the look or sound or use of. I'm not sure I have any favourites in English, but I love "Zeug" and "Auflauf" in German. "Auflauf" is just fun to say, and "Zeug" is so damn versatile 😂

Today's word lesson: "Begrudgingly" carries a strong sense of resentment or envy about doing something and suggests someone feels the action is undeserved or unfair. But if someone does something reluctantly without resentfulness or envy, then "grudgingly" is the correct word.

#writingcommunity Does the weather ever influence your scenes? Or perhaps, your motivation to write? I prefer gray, bleh days for writing. Probably because I want to get out and do things when the weather is nice 😂 And I'm a big fan of the pouring-rain-during-angsty-moments vibe

Does your brain ever get stuck on certain words? I have no idea why, but I always mentally read "façade" as "fa-kay-d" and then have to correct myself 😂

Happy Monday, #writingcommunity! Let's kick this week off with: what is your all-time favourite trope? And does it change based on the genre? I'm a big fan of enemies to lovers across the board.
