Had some notes to go with that: #NotesOnAction: from Chantal Akerman’s TOUTE UNE NUIT; how to layer narrative sans exposition, through points in common & repetition; sparse, purposive use of sound/music. Framing, architecture, glimpses of light & neg. space. Expressive & focused.
If I´d make an action movie I´d wish it would look, sound & move like Chantal Akerman’s TOUTE UNE NUIT (1982) with knife fights.

While it doesn’t reach the heights of its sequel NINJA is a solid Adkins/Florentine flick filled with great fight scenes including this homage to FISTS OF FURY. Made even more impressive that Adkin’s was able to pull off these kicking combinations while injured. This scene 🤌🏻🤌🏻

The intensity and exhaustion Scott Adkins is matched by the power and imposing presence of Jess Liaudin captured perfectly by James Nunn and his team. ONE SHOT remains a pinnacle of DTV and a must watch for action movie fans!

I think direct to streaming will be completely AI rendered where the customer will be able to real time apply things you don’t wanna see, stuff you wanna see to never be challenged in your endless stream again with some premium features.

Rewatched TENET as well, the backwards & parallell back/forwards motion still a concept for someone to explore, think of a bkwrd motion IKO or Kensuke Sonomura, exploring combat strategy adapting to changing flows of time. Anyway JDW was magnetic in this, he do any other action?
Rewatched INCEPTION last night, at a conceptual level more than in execution, I am still a bit bummed this & TENENT weren't inceptions on a flood of DTV/VOD action cinema to depict room twisting and/or backwards fighting layered within an unstable stretched out slow motion moment

Zaror stars in LOVENSONGS & BEATDOWNS - THE MOVIE, lol. This goes pretty hard up against its limitations, falls apart midway, but by that point, & if you thought it's been too slow, there's only Zaror stretching out his frame across the screen in several dimensions left (cont.)

There's a possibility the credits in this are AI. Which also fits thematically, When it starts to fall apart, there seems to be no memory of what's outside the frame, a character can't remember much else than a couple of frames & so on. Watch together with Uni Sol DoR Aggro Dr1ft

Not without faults, Zaror keeps trying to reach further than the lowest expectations, he hasn’t given up, he swings big & bold. His hulking to fit inside the screen & when lashing out the camera tries to keep up, captured in wides Zaror still reaching for the limit of the frame..

Holy moly "Affinity" fucking rocks ! Brandon Slagle's sci-fi martial arts actioner punches way above its weight with some gorgeous, meticulously crafted cinematography and narrative/genre strides I did not see coming, the cast is all game with Zaror's action blistering as usual🔥
