Everyone can drop all of their music listening stats at the end of the year…but on top of music listening, I use a fantastic podcast app called @pocketcasts and they just pushed out some listening stats for 2025

So I’m not a Spotify user but i am a big listener of podcasts. According to @pocketcasts I’ve listened to 190,201 minutes in 2025, which frighteningly is 36% of my life this year!

Playback 2025 is officially here! Your top podcasts, ratings, minutes listened, and more are ready to explore in-app. And fun fact: your stats will keep updating through to the end of the year 🥳

We also see the feedback around bugs and performance issues. These are valid concerns, and you’ll see improvements in upcoming updates. Our goal is to make Playlists easy to understand for new listeners while preserving the powerful workflows long-time listeners are used to.

Save your Up Next queue: when you tap "Play All" on a playlist, you’re prompted to save your current Up Next, so carefully built queues don’t get overwritten by accident.

Simplify Filters to Smart Playlists: we preserved all existing filter functionality, including “New Releases.” We also redesigned the rule editor from a pill-based UI to a clearer list view that scales to more powerful rules over time, such as keyword-based episode matching.

Filters that were powerful but difficult to understand, especially for new listeners. Our goal with Playlists was to support a few core jobs better: Manual Playlists: to finally give everyone a way to curate themed playlists across any shows (whether you follow them or not).

Previously, Up Next and Filters were the primary ways to organize episodes, but both were falling short in important ways. We consistently saw: Bloated Up Next queues with thousands of episodes, because there was no way to save or reuse lists.

Thank you for all the recent feedback on Playlists. This was a major project for our team, and I wanted to share the thinking behind a few key product decisions.
