To all my friends long-standing and recent: have a very happy holiday! We deserve it! Best of luck in 2023! Here’s to hoping I can say the same next year and a special wish for peace in Europe sooner rather than later!

I happened across “A Charlie Brown Christmas” just now and it brought back fond memories of Christmas as a child in the 60’s. it’s got the anarchic happiness of the best shows of the era, with protests against commercialization of Christmas. Widely available including Apple TV

I gave the Subway app another try and it resulted in a sub at my front door, so it seems fine now. Moral: don’t try an app on day 1. #Subway #redemption. But it would be better if the app made it clear that it’s a front end to a no-fee DoorDash.

To complement the magnificent pageantry beaming from London this morning, here’s a song for the working week that my Dad liked to play, from the comedic talents of the great duo Flanders and Swan https://t.co/O3E0O6RIs3

To be fair, this song is more musical than the barrage of the previous song and the crowd likes this one more too.

I’m at Scotiabank Arena suffering through the very loud and not at all enjoyable (to me) opening act “St Vincent” so far just a lot of noise and bright lights but the crowd likes it. I’m looking forward to Roxy Music. The experience of getting to my accessible seat sucked, sigh

One of the risks of type 2 diabetes is diabetic retinopathy. The std treatment is PRP but it can be very painful. After months of looking for PRP with sedation, I found the very kind staff of A. Berger who did it this week with my deep thanks.@stmikeshospital Toronto

At Scotiabank Arena, where the Roger Waters team kindly delayed the start of their show to allow all the people delayed by the horrendous traffic to find their seats. And the people who helped me get to the accessible spot for my wheelchair were SO nice! Thank-you @MLSE !!

https://t.co/v95WVmQZ5D is a tribute to pizza and includes a remarkable (and flawed, IMHO) investigation of the effects of eating pizza on brainwaves and mood. Generously, the show says pizza can help with OCD. Could stimulate a classroom discussion of experimental design.

And here’s a good short view into his politics: https://t.co/zVKgWbOgY0. And how s politics don’t dominate his concerts but they influence his songs of course and they do come out in some insightful and even fun ways, like his Y2K stories last Friday night

I don’t want to leave the impression that the hall and exhibit were the best parts of the evening: the concert itself was great and I recommend seeing Bruce wherever he’s playing. If he was playing again in Toronto soon, I would go!

At the Bruce Cockburn concert at Massey Hall in Toronto. My first time after the renovation and looking at one of the glassed-in exhibits. This one features a drum from Arcade Fire

Russians seize control of Chernobyl; is there other stuff of similar value they can “grab” ?! Maybe if we just leave crap out in the open. Today I am thinking thank-you to my parents who moved from Europe to Canada in ‘53 #Chernobyl #spoilsOfWar.

https://t.co/rbyDsesqC1 has 2 memorable articles: a charming interview with Jane Goodall and an interview with a 60-something actor helping people with their body images. A nice antidote to all the fuss about protests; ALSO: kudos to law enforcement for being restrained

A fascinating documentary on the Discovery channel about the Underground Railroad extending into Mexico, which abolished slavery before Canada. Tracing this history is complicated by the use of ferries to cross into Mexico https://t.co/gyVfNP8grR
