Now back from Gaza | Not a tankie, just love tanks. Once a conscript, forever a reservist. If you're interested in the IDF, you've come to the right place.
I'm Kahalani, a former Merkava 4m Driver who got out in 2020. I'm currently in the process of signing up for reserve duty because I'm sick in the head and love tanks. This does not make me an authority figure in any way, but I can offer my experience and perspective to help.
I swear to God one of the most exciting parts about entering Gaza will be the fact I won't be on Twitter and seeing all the god awful takes on this conflict.
After 4 months of war, I'm finally getting released. They've been the most enjoyable and meaningful time of my life, but it's time to move on. The hardest part isn't adjusting back to normal, but to leave my conscript friends still fighting. They only have 6 Hamas battalions left
Storytime: When I joined the IDF, I was a wide-eyed kid who was eager & excited to join the Armored Corp. Just seeing all the tanks at the motor pool lined up to the horizon made my jaw dropped. However it wasn't long until the base was abuzz with talk about a training accident🧵
Israel views winning a battle as a great victory and something to celebrate. Hamas clowns view a single destroyed tank as a victory and something to celebrate as it's the only thing you'll get.
There's such a massive disconnect between what people think is happening in Gaza, and what's actually happening. I didn't see a single civilian throughout the whole month I was there. It was like playing in an empty Battlefield lobby. Quite surreal.
📣 Statement from the Chief of Staff's Office 📣:
"Due to irreplaceable losses within the IDF's Armored Corps, the bulk of our brigades will be supplemented by Humvees retrofitted with cannons, nicknamed "Charta". They are already in the process of entering the battlefield. "
PSA TO ALL OF THE PRO-PALESTINIAN/PRO-HAMAS PSYCHOS:
Commenting 🔻🔻🔻🔻 over my posts doesn't actually increase the likelihood of me dying, nor does it scare me.
A Namer is a Merkava's best friend. The Merkava would do the long range overwatch while the Namer would cover close by and even the Merkava's rear. It worked really well for raids.
I was waiting for the 1 month anniversary of this fucking post to really start celebrating only for this warmongering dog to not even have the decency to get 🔻’d, ffs
Thanks. When Hamas uses schools to manufacture weapons and use them as strongholds, we have no other choice but to remove the threat. Thankfully the school had been given plenty of time to evacuate so no civilians were at threat.
The past few hours here have shown me how little people know about war, tanks, and tactics. I'm going to sleep now with a huge smile on my face seeing all the shit I've stirred over the month. I had no idea this was happening. Good night lovers and haters.
@plovejet
Check the souvenir I got tankbro
Also, If we meet up inside please tell me you got speakers i want to blast absolute territory by ken ashcorp.
A combat montage from Gaza so good I went ahead and translated it into English. There's some fantastic gun cam footage from the gunner's POV in here, so this one's a must-watch!
Comparing me to a father who's kept his 5 year old daughter's sock on him as a keepsake while in Gaza for 4 months isn't the own that you think it is. You on the other hand look like you have a court mandated order preventing you from being within a mile of any school.
I don't think Yedi Cohen is on Twitter, but he's been posting his fantastic pictures as an armored company commander in Gaza on his Facebook. Check him out:
In Israel, we don't have school busses. We have Namers. Cross in front of it when it has stopped to pickup or dropoff kids and you'll be obliterated by the 50. Cal.
A Namer pulls rear security on a Merkava. I love how putting a 50. Cal on an RCWS changes it from an area-effect weapon, to a deadly accurate mini auto canon.
Good morning. I forgot to show some of the Hamas posters plastered around the classroom. Gazan youth are unfortunately taught extremism at an early age. It's genuinely disheartening to see kids brainwashed into supporting terrorists. Google lens translation is under this post.
📢Israel Announces a new Hard-Kill drone system📢
Israeli defense company IAI ELTA Sytems has unveiled a clever new anti-drone system that enables pre-existing legacy weapon platforms to shoot down drones. The full vid is here, but let's dive into the potential of Huntereye! 🧵
The most interesting thing about people like you is how little you actually know about me & what I did in Gaza, and my what beliefs are on this war and the larger conflict. You've constructed a fascinating image in your head of a person who doesn't and never existed. 1/8
You're a genocider. This isn't a twitter joke. You're a war criminal who flew over to Israel to participate in mass murder and you think you are engaged in a game of light hearted twitter riffing. You blew up innocent people's homes for fun in your tank. It's not a game man
Thank you to each and every one of you for helping me reach 10k followers! Here's a bigger shout-out to the haters, the red triangles, and the Dorito lovers. Here's to many more engaging conversations & many more terrorists engaged. Here's a personal clip of mine while in Gaza.
When we conduct raids, we use what's called "suppressing fire" to keep potential enemies from poking their heads out from their holes. Hamas are truly cowardly and don't know how to fight against a bunch of tanks firing all at once in a general area. When we start, they run away.
@plovejet
SERIOUS question I promise!! Why do you guys post these horrendously embarrassing videos of you guys shooting at jack shit....like nothing??
Why are you wasting bullets?
A Merkava goes through an obstacle course in the Golan heights. I love how this video demonstrates how tanks can climb up "steps". This vid also exhibits the surprisingly tough and rocky terrain of the Golan that can make traction harder, as well as increased wear on the tracks.
A few months later, the water had receded, so my commanders had us ford the same pond, but luckily on our feet. Moral of the story: Always check your tank is ready and able to ford and that you have the ability to quickly escape if need be!
The Israeli gun aesthetic is a mood that is a result of decades of government hand me downs and a less open gun accessory market than in the US. You fight what you can get your hands on.
I helped secure humanitarian corridors that evacuated 100 of thousands civs, I find it mind boggling that people would simply believe the Hamas-provided number of 30,000. They want you to think it's a genocide in order to put pressure to stop the war. They want as many dead civs!
🧵Gaza Casualty Update: Hamas & UN mouthpiece report 30,035 fatalities. IDF announced on Feb 29 that it has killed 13,000 Hamas in Gaza. Overall civilian/combatant ratio down to new low at 1.3:1. Media still cites Hamas numbers as fact. See updates based on new IDF numbers: 1/4
⚠️Breaking News⚠️
UN Forces have announced an incursion into Gaza, and are already claiming to have captured strategic IDF operating bases, killing and capturing dozens of IDF personnel. Sec Gen of the UN, António Guterres states that the UN's goal is to stop the genocide.
There used to be a tank at the Latrun tank museum that we would sneak into while guarding there after hours and rotate the turret. I think the caretakers welded the hatch shut after they noticed that the gun kept changing directions. Can anyone ID this vehicle?
