News Release 📃 Update: Animal Abuse Allegations Investigation. The Pleasanton Police Department has completed its investigation into the reported animal abuse allegations and the subsequent shooting incident.

*UPDATE 7/28* PPD is actively investigating the shooting that occurred on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in which a 71-year-old Pleasanton resident suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victim is currently in stable condition.

Joshua Kaplan, is currently in police custody, and this is believed to be an isolated event. There is no threat to public safety. The relationship between the involved parties and the circumstances surrounding this shooting are still being determined. (3 of 3).

At the home, officers located a 71-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, a Pleasanton resident, was transported to a local trauma center where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries. A 50-year-old male suspect. (2 of 3).

On 7/11/25, two juveniles, 15 and 16, were arrested after robbing a couple outside a Pleasanton bank. They stole a $1,100 cashier’s check and fled. Two male suspects were apprehended in Livermore; both are Livermore residents. Stolen cashier's check and a handgun were recovered.

SAFETY ALERT UPDATE 🚨 ATM Robbery Suspects Arrested. Two male suspects, ages 12 & 17, were arrested in connection to recent series of ATM robberies. Both are Livermore residents. Due to their age, identities will not be released. Booked at juvenile hall on first-degree robbery.
