want to hear all possible 8 step hihat rhythms?. sorted by Grey code, a binary code toggling 1 bit each pattern, repeated twice with a tiny bit of swing, 256 patterns x 2 @ 128 BPM = 8 mins of delicious minimal techno. #generative #genartclub.

. like I wonder if I can virtual emulate an ESP32 and set arbitrary regions of its virtual flash memory to "fail", in order to test whether my (future) wear leveling implementation actually works --- instead of finding out when it bricks after 5 months or so.

. cannot deal with "bad sectors", then the whole thing becomes e-waste. So if I'm going to use the flash memory (which is about 2-3MB on my ESP32) as storage, I have to be able to deal with the storage simply "running out", like entirely. Anyone familiar has thoughts? :).

So if you think about that for a while, you may come up with all kinds of bit counting trickery to use this storage in ways that wear it most evenly and as little as possible. But it's also kind of crazy cause the breakage is irreversible and if the device/software cannot deal. .
