New to the troop: Addison and Mzuzi! The Phoenix Zoo is excited to announce the addition of two young baboons, one male and one female, to our troop! Addison, a three-year-old female, comes from North Carolina Zoo, while Mzuzi, a four-year-old male, comes from Oakland Zoo.

It is World Tamandua (Anteater) Day! We recently celebrated, Ernie's 3rd birthday! Tamanduas are known as lesser anteaters because they are much smaller than their relatives, giant anteaters. Ernie's diet consists of insectivore feed, mealworms & avocados!

Caring for animals takes a team... literally! Our bird keepers, vet staff and more coordinated this year's vulture round-up! Corralling 14 large vultures and holding them for their health exams is no easy task, but this team made it look like a walk in the park.

Did you know that Nyala fight in lowercase? We caught our two male Nyala, Rusk and Biscuit, engaging in a dance called lateral display. Nyala display this behavior when trying to assert dominance while avoiding a fight!

60 seconds of Thistle & Fern 😻 The siblings have very different personalities! Thistle is confident and curious, and will sometimes greet guests - especially little kids! Fern is quiet and reserved, and keeps an eye on guests from afar with her resting grumpy cat face.
