If not friend, then why friend shaped? 🐱. While sand cats are typically smaller than domestic cats, they prove their might by navigating the harshest desert environments. They have thick fur on the bottom side of their paws, protecting their toe beans from the desert sand.

BIG NEWS! 📷. We are SO excited to welcome Fern and Thistle to the Phoenix Zoo in the coming weeks! It will be a while before the siblings will be visible to the public, so stay tuned for updates as they journey here and eventually get acclimated to their new home with us!.
We are happy to share on VetTales Friday that a “furr-ever home” has been found for rescued mtn lion cubs Fern & Thistle — @phoenixzoo!. Both Fern and Thistle have received exit exams (see photo of Fern's high-tech laparoscopic spay). We'll keep you posted on when they move!

For further context, Fern and Thistle were orphans found by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife in Portola Valley. It is believed that the cubs' mother was struck by a car. We are honored to have been chosen to give the cubs a second chance and a safe home 📷.
On Sunday, @CaliforniaDFW brought 3 orphaned mountain lion cubs to Oakland Zoo’s vet hospital. The trio, estimated to be about 3 months old, were found in Portola Valley. CDFW believes the mother of these cubs is the same female mountain lion that was killed by a car in the same
