I'm not 'endorsing' the below sentiment (I'm neither Israeli nor Jewish). But this kind of out-group hardening was an entirely predictable consequence of the way the loudest voices in the 'pro-Palestinian' movement have persistently denied the humanity of Israelis and Jews.

Watching the world celebrate people whose life's work is killing Jews has hardened my heart. Israel must do whatever it takes to survive. That task is monstrous to many, because many think Jews existing is a crime. But their moral outrage means nothing to me now.

I think the lesson of liberalism is that ideas which persuade themselves they are inevitable end up dying on the vine. Because what is inevitable doesn’t need to be effortfully maintained, nurtured or defended.

Support for a two-state solution is a moral litmus test. Those who dodge, deflect, or deny the Jewish state’s legitimacy aren’t critics – they are would-be annihilators

It is not really a surprise to me that, now that it has been reported that the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight, the until-now private jostling between Israel and the Sauds (and co) for the WH's favor on the regional day after has led to this kind of conflagration.

Another U.S. official said the damage the Israelis had done to their standing at the White House over the past week didn't seem to be breaking through to them. "The Israelis need to get their head out of their asses," the official quipped.

So have we just accepted from the reality of LLMs is that there appears to be a deep, structural isomorphism between the patterns of human meaning and the patterns of abstract, relational geometry?.

I am pro-Union in principle because I think the ability to enter into voluntary associations to further mutual self-interest (within the law) is both an observable reality (humans do this) and a necessary consequence of the basic principles of liberty (or 'classical liberalism').

Since I apparently have nothing better to do, I'm going to use this bit of off-season 'inside baseball' NFL news to make some observations about labor, organizations and governance. It's a problem that all our social, political and cultural critiques are so siloed (silo-ized[?]).

As someone who is extremely pro-Union in principle, but is often disillusioned by the too common institutional failures of organized labor, I hope NFL players, given their resources and influence, take this opportunity to demonstrate the necessity of member-driven governance.

Mamdani tells @errollouis he’d discourage to use ‘Globalize the Intifada’ slogan because the distance between what some intend as a form of protest and what most Jewish New Yorkers hear as a call to violence is “a bridge that is too far.”

Saudi Arabia have thrown their full weight behind Shara'a—notable detail that Shara'a has 'standing' to call MBS directly. I half-joked earlier that this read-out was a de facto declaration of patronage, but I'm finding it hard to describe as otherwise.

What is happening in Syria has the potential to make very public, and therefore maybe even bring to a head, the so far mostly private diplomatic three-way between the US and both Israel and Saudi Arabia on what the future of the region looks like.

'LLM psychosis' seems to be a kind of supercharged apophenia-folie à deux mix in which a 'free thinking human' and a semantically-blind sycophantic machine play a game of chicken unknowingly.

E.g. When Debord at [3] defines the spectacle as the whole, the part and the unification, he is really describing an actual occasion which flattens the process that generated it into a single, ephemeral, apparently Parmenedian representation.

To some extent I wonder if Debord in Society of the Spectacle gave a near perfect description of the ontology of existing within Whitehead’s actual occasion - a product of the process but formally ignorant of of it and its place within it.

The 'conspiracies' distract us from the reality that, taken even at their most naive, the minimally agreed facts reveal that our 'elite' institutions and their occupants were liable to infiltration and manipulation by what was, at best, two sociopaths engaged in a folie à deux.
