Word slam their hands against the sutures of my skull, itching to get out. They dig crooked fingers into grey matter and swim in cerebrospinal fluid hoping to be birthed. They morph from phrases and intransitives into metaphors and hyperbole, sprouting wings that soon crumple.

I’ve always been concerned about these things. Writing is such an expensive (almost elitist) craft to master, and with so little financial return promised, but it has immense cultural relevance and the ability to define milieus. A great writer is a dangerous creature.
I wish libraries were more accessible to poor people. Writing is an activity of the privileged. And writing, especially fiction, is a very powerful tool in the society. Whose story gets told? Who tells the stories? Who benefits from telling these stories?

There’s this thing Nigerians do when someone especially women speak up about something vile done to them. Suddenly, the victim must be a saint, must be holy, must be kind, free of any form of vices. They start sanctimoniously digging for an old tweet or mistake to “taint” their

Out of our 109 senators, only 4 are women. Out of 360 Reps, only 15 are women. Out of 991 legislative seats across our 36 Houses of Assembly, only 45. Yet you criticize the men destroying this country by calling them women. Patriarchy impedes y’all’s ability to reason properly

Look at a man sexually assaulting a mad woman and he is being recorded instead of being stoned If it was a gay man that was just existing they’ll beat him to death in the most gruesome way 🙁

A yahoo boy is not disgracing his family A kidnapper is not bringing shame to the family. A rapist is not bringing shame to the family. A pedophile is not a disgrace to the family. A deadbeat is not a shame to his family. But a woman who enjoys s3x is a disgrace. Misogyny rots

Last year, I remember telling my friend that I hadn’t left my room in days because I didn’t want to go out and live anymore and she sent me this as a vn. I played it so much, I know it off heart. “You have main character syndrome” ….. not in the negative way , so you’ll

The men there were busy saying “wait wait” and treating him so gently. You see? They clearly do not think an adult man touching little girls is a horrible thing. Have you seen how men react to what they consider evil? Have you seen how they lynch gay men and petty thieves???

170 people killed in Kwara. That’s:
– 11 packed danfo buses gone.
– 3 full ATR-72 aircraft crashing at once.
– Over twice the 70 killed in the deadliest single-day attack in Gaza. Yet Tinubu chose to attend a wedding instead of visiting the state. And Nigeria moves on.
Within days of over 170 Nigerians being killed in Kwara State, the president showed up at a lavish wedding for the minister of state for defense’s children. The country is still waiting for his statement. Priorities are clear.

Doesn’t matter. What’s important is that they can kill gay people.

When Khaled Hosseini wrote “a man’s heart is a wretched, wretched thing. It isn't like a mother's womb. It won't bleed. It won't stretch to make room for you.” I had to stop, put the book down and breathe because never had a sentence knocked the breath out of me like that did.
