Aside from the market being very different then to what it is now, Sunderland had just been relegated. Burnley aren't. With what Burnley paid, the % due to City and Trafford's unlimited potential, £30M and "possible" add ons isn't going to cut it.
@JoelBlandSport @KEZZAMAGS £30m + £5m achievable add on’s like international debut in a competitive match reckon it gets done. Pickford fee Everton paid back in 2017 wasn’t far off that.

Chance to prove yourself at the top level of the game, turns it down. Probably disgruntled he was ready to be loaned out again, which is semi-understandable. Leaving to go to a "project' in an inferior league seems odd. Must have half an eye on a Chelsea move with the ownership.
