Cuba has had free gender affirmation surgery and HRT since 2008 but sure have it darker than the country that literally exported transphobia across the entire planet
therapist: and what do we say when we feel like this?
me: my depression is likely tied to capitalist alienation which leads to meaninglessness and isolation.
therapist: shit I never thought of it like that.
West Africa is saying no more to French military presence. This led to the western world attempting to impose sanctions on Mali but it was blocked by Russia and China
The nationwide power failure in
#Venezuela
now going on its 25th hour is causing devastating long term economic damage.
In the blink of an eye the countries entire aluminum production capacity was destroyed by damage caused by the blackout.
Chileans: we are protesting against neoliberalism
Bourgeois media: here are some theories on why Chileans are protesting
Chileans: i just told you we are protesting against neoliberalism
Bourgois media: maybe the economy is doing too well
One of the wildest claims is that Cuba intentionally starves its citizens when they have eradicated child malnutrition but in the US farmers are forced to destroy crops and livestock while millions go hungry
US dropped 7.5m tons of bombs and spread agent orange over 4.5m acres to stop the "threat to peace and freedom presented by the militant aggressiveness of communism." 50 yrs later US vets go to Vietnam to seek affordable healthcare. Which system is a threat to peace and freedom?
Destroying private property is nonviolent direct action. The capitalists have proven they care about nothing else and the protesters are making themselves heard.
This is a lie. It has been less than 4 days since country wide protests began. Incubation period for COVID-19 is 5-14 days. These new cases are a result of states reopening but they're trying to blame it on protesters.
Bolivia | Thousands of Evo Morales supporters are marching in the city of El Alto as they refuse to accept the president’s resignation amid the right-wing coup.
Since all these shows in 2019 are showing Soviets as evil and there are even "leftists" on here saying that the dissolution of the USSR was a good thing, it's important to remind everyone what capitalism brought to the former Soviet Union:

@theinoculation
The US started funding the mujahideen first and then the government of Afghanistan requested assistance from the USSR (not Russia). It wasn't an invasion.
"I honor Lenin as a man who completely sacrificed himself and devoted all his energy to the realization of social justice. I do not consider his methods practical, but one thing is certain: men of his type are the guardians and restorers of the conscience of humanity."
Ho Chi Minh went to France and was like "if yall are communists you should care about Vietnamese liberation." And they were like "but I'm le tired!" and then he went to USSR and fully had Lenin's support
White latinxs will say "using 'latinx' is american imperialism on the spanish language" while completely forgetting imperialism is the reason lat am speaks Spanish in the first place.
@SpaghettiKozak
Yeah women's rights actually improved during the PDPA gov. They expanded literacy for women, banned the practice of buying brides, and 40% of doctors were women. My point still stands that US intervention is responsible for the deterioration of women's rights in Afghanistan
If you're ideologically a socialist and happened to have a lot of money why would you want to pay more taxes when a significant chunk of that goes to the military and corporate bailouts when you could just directly give your money to mutual aid, revolutionary parties, etc.
If
#Cuba
cared to end food shortages, it would not reject hundreds of millions of dollars worth of American food & agricultural exports authorized every year. If it cared about true freedom, it would not jail
#HumanRights
defenders and journalists or outlaw political opposition.
If it were possible, would you subtract one day off your life and add it to Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s life for one extra day of good health? If just 10,000 people did this, it would add 27 productive years to her life.
Thinking about how prevalent socialism was in the common vernacular of pre-1967 Indonesia that when JFK visited the country, a 6th grader asked Kennedy what he thought about monopoly capitalism
Evo won another election. Macri is on his way out in Argentina. Uruguay's Broad Front will likely win again. Venezuela has held strong against US coup attempts. Ecuador rose up to cancel IMF loans. Chile is protesting against neoliberalism. South America gives me hope.
The US and UK did not fight in WWII because they were anti fascist. They fought in WWII bc German, Italian, and Japanese imperialism challenged American and British imperialism.
115,000+ died in the American revolution. 5,000 died in the Cuban revolution. So why is Washington, who owned slaves, portrayed as a hero but Castro, who ended segregation in Cuba, portrayed as a mass murderer?
Voting is more effective in Bolivia than in the US bc elections in Bolivia are more democratic than the US:
- No two party system
- No electoral college
- Winner based on popular vote
- Elections take place on a weekend
- Recall elections for all elected officials
Ppl say "listen to Venezuelans" but see no distinction between Venezuelans and Venezuelan Americans. Just like Cuban and Vietnamese Americans, they tend to be disproportionately right wing compared to other immigrants groups.
Cuban Americans completely ignoring that they got preferential treatment to come into this country legally because they were seeking "asylum" from the evil communist govt that stole their plantations
You left out the part where the US recognized Pol Pot and it was the Vietnamese communists who finally ended the genocide. This is the part that isn't taught in history class.
No one talks about the Cambodian Genocide, which is among the worst holocausts as Cambodia never recovered.
The reason why the media rarely brings it up?
Pol Pot was a left wing communist.
Pinochet might've killed a lot of people but at least the poverty rate increased from 28% to 45% despite receiving despite receiving billions of dollars in loans from the US
Chile today is one of the most prosperous countries in South America, thanks in part to policies launched by a group of economists known as the Chicago Boys in the mid-70s-80s. But this prosperity came at an enormous social and human cost.
"None of the people defending the Bolivarian revolution in the US are actual Venezuelans"
That's because Chavistas are busy defending the Bolivarian revolution at home, gusano.
@ExChavitaBien
Literally not true. New Caledonia has 25% of the world's nickel and one of the highest GDP per capita in oceania. However French settlers own 2/3 of the land on the island and have incomes 4x higher than the indigenous population.
Don't fall for racist malthusian myths. The concept of "over population" has been used to justify millions of deaths in India (1899-1900) and Ireland (1845-1849) as well as forced sterilization of indigenous people.
