🇸🇪 Oberhof was a great success for the Swedish team -2 wins for Elvira -Podium for Sebbe and nearly 2 -Hanna with a big comeback to the podium today -Swedish men a podium and nearly a win -Now 4 athletes in the Overall top 6’s and real globe aspirations 📸Heilwagen/IBU #biathlon

🇫🇮 10 races into a 21 race season and Suvi Minkkinen is in 2nd Overall! She has 5 podiums so a 50% podium rate including her 1st win. She’s skiing -2.2% vs median compared to 1.0% last year (which was a HUGE jump). Still shooting 91.3%. This is just gorgeous biathlon! #biathlon

🇸🇪Long story short Sebastian Samuelsson is sitting in 4th in the Overall and 106 pts back with 11 races to go. He has the form and the ability to chase the Overall if he chooses to and could make a real run at it. Basically he feels a little “under valued” right now #biathlon

🇸🇪 Only reason he is “only 4th” in the Overall is that he currently has “just” 3 podiums and no wins *yet*. But if he keeps up this level of performance it feels like an upward reversion including turning his 3 4th/5th place finishes into podiums and adding a win or 2 #biathlon

🇸🇪Reiterating that Sebbe Samuelsson is having the most consistent season of his career Avg finish is 5.7. Best before this was 10.8 in 21-22 Avg ski rank 3.3 better than prior best of 6.6 last year Hitting 83.8% in non-relays and better including relays 📸 Heilwagen #biathlon

🇫🇷 Only one change for the French squad this week. Emilien Claude returns to the World Cup in place of Valentin Lejeune. Claude looked more like himself this week with 2 podiums in Arber. Skiing not all the way back but the best he’s looked since the surgery 📸 Deubert #biathlon

🇸🇪 My read on Sweden taking 7 is that Anna-Karin Heijdenberg and Linn Gestblom are likely the Olympic reserves behind the big 4 of Elvira/Hanna/Magnusson/Halvarsson. But Johanna Skottheim earns a healthy chance to fight for the spot. #biathlon
