In honour of #WorldTurtleDay today, I’d like to share my journey with #turtles, how I ended up studying them, how I co-founded a non-profit in Malaysia, and what I wished for our turtles. (This is a #thread.).

We discovered a new population of river terrapins in the Kuantan River! 🐢. In 2018, we were told that we were “10 years too late,” so it’s a pleasant surprise to see that they are still around! 🎉. . @TCSMsia.

Turtles are wildlife and they should be left in the wild. Do not keep them as pet, or for whatever reason. If you absolutely must keep them, ensure that you have the proper documentation/ license. Especially if they’re listed in the Malaysian Wildlife Conservation Act.

After more than a decade, this is the second consecutive year where we managed to collect more than 1,500 eggs for incubation. As the nesting season begins to slow down, we’re hoping to hit 2,000 eggs this year!. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻.
