I have a literal degree in video game art & animation that’s collecting dust on my shelf right now. My portfolio was never up to “industry standard” despite consistent remarks from my professors that I was one of the better animators in my year. The reality was devastating.
Honestly, I didn't think of being unemployed like this for so long after graduating. Ik I’m qualified but the industry keeps bringing up the startup level, which is totally unfair. Asking a junior artist to have mid/senior portfolio is going too far
