And finally all updates have been installed. It's probably worth backing up the disk now.

Maybe we are done with updates. Let's wait and see if the load settles down

After 24 hours of installing updates you think all is set to enjoy your 32 bit Windows7 retro tablet in 2025... Not yet! Kudos to Microsoft for providing updates for an obsolete OS!

4th reboot and it's not over yet. I think it was a vanilla Win7SP1 install.

I'm playing with #greaseweazle and a bunch of random floppies at flux level. This is a MF/2HD (1.44 MB). All other disks in the box are in DOS format and show up as expected. This one has handwritten label "Install 1 HD". Not sure what's going on here! @bolex70 maybe? :)

While learning how to recover data from a formatted floppy disk with greaseweazle + testdisk + photorec, I spotted this email. I wonder if they realized they missed by one minute a once-per-century peculiar timestamp. :-)

Might have been faster to do a clean install. But all drivers are already installed. Lazy me.

I am cleaning a WinXP laptop that slept in a drawer for 13 yrs. Folders in Explorer are black or blue. OMG! Compressed folders! #retrocomputing

Found this printout in my teenage room: Virus characteristics list V74. By McAfee 1991. I don't remember the origin, and I never owned a dot matrix printer either. I will try to look online for the digital file. The world was simpler back then. #virus #mcafee #retrocomputing

And it's that day when you get to use the RCA-RCA cable you saved for 20ish years and the RCA-BNC adapter :)

If it was supposed to work without a heatsink, why put it in the first place? The chip beneath has a thermal pad. I am not sure I want to fix this. I could keep the machine as an offline display. Any thoughts? Have you seen similar failures?

It looks like one of the holders has come off. Nevermind, I opened a twin DL140G2: same failure! And a third specimen too! When I picked the fourth (and last in my stock) I heard something small jumping inside the unit. Of course the heatsink was lifted. Continues...

I opened it before attempting a power up. The visual inspection stops at the lifted heatsink over a large chip (not the CPU). There is residual thermal paste, so the heatsink was once attached to the chip, I presume. Continues...

To whom it may concern :) Power supply of Sega Master System II is with positive on the ring (the "Japanese way"), 9V or so. Using the wrong polarization does not damage the console. But you won't get a signal. How do I know, 3 times?! RF TV output is on channel 36.
