Guy made a lush 15 minute video on the implications of AI generated video. I disagreed with most of it, but it’s worth a watch.@daganshani1.

@daganshani1 It’s a beautifully put together video,.but there’s a “sky is falling” pessimism throughout which I don’t think is balanced by the “but I could wrong” ending. I think it conspicuously overlooks the pros of AI images/video, and also under sells our ability to adapt to change.

This is the first hard figure I’ve seen > $200 tier. That $18,000/year, that’s rent for good office space.

The Not Interested button on TikTok is way more powerful than just skipping past a video. Use it liberally your feed will quickly transform.

We need more uses of AI where it's not writing code, but it's nonetheless increasing developer productivity.

Yes, the PR author could groom their commit history to present each theme in a separate commit, or even a separate PR, but the reality is often PRs have multiple things going on, let AI sort it out. @github.

I'd like to see GitHub use AI to present a PR diff split into "themes". Often, a PR has multiple themes which are interleaved spatially, so they are interleaved in the diff, which makes reviewing much more confusing.

His anecdote about “Larry” crumbles any idea I had that “finance bros” were doing anything remotely useful during those 90 hour weeks. Laughably dumb waste of time, in this case anyway.

Graham says set an ambitious goal that truly excites you, rather than a dull realistic one — you’ll get much further even if you don’t hit that higher bar.

Started listening to this Nassim Taleb compilation video. One minute in he says you can “choose to cry in your basement waiting on government money.” Turned it off.

Both Chromium are VS Code are suddenly being used by many AI startups as the basis for their products. No way did Google or Microsoft foresee this in 2008 and 2015 when they came out.

It's so cringe when Elon interrupts the Grok 4 livestream to muse about how far we are along the Kardashev scale, or imply AI might destroy humanity.

Why are companies building their own AI hardware still buying so much from NVIDIA? Can they not scale up their own production? Or does it just not work for some use cases?

NVIDIA was over $4T today but closed under it. Hard to believe the highest valued company in the world basically just multiplies floating point numbers very quickly.

This means smaller projects have proportionally more high-quality contributors, which seems right.

I'd bet that the number of high-quality contributions to an open-source project, such as a programming language, is proportional to the log of the number of users.

But it doesn’t end there, there’s a fair amount more.

My twenty-three year old memory of PTA’s Punch Drunk Love was it ended with them in Hawaii. I wonder how much was due to this iris-out which felt like an ending.

The paperclip reboot trick fixed this problem. They must wisely reformat and reinstall when you do that.

But they are welcome to add it or say no, we don’t want to expand our library or API in that direction.

AI coding in general is in a position to alert someone, “I’m addding this helper or glue code to thousands of code bases, if you just added it, it would simplify how people call into your code.”.
